Who IS MAYLIS?
As a coach and creator of experiential learning, inclusive and trauma-informed leadership programmes, Maylis champions agency and wellbeing for all employees as a competitive advantage. She helps organisations future-proof workplace culture and equips leaders to harness the diversity within their teams, enabling them to thrive—especially in challenging global socio-economic and political climates.
In 2020, Maylis co-founded We Create Space, a global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consultancy, learning platform, and social enterprise that funds free events, resources, and support for LGBTQ+ professionals, and the wider community. Since its inception, We Create Space has hosted over 1,000 events, partnered with more than 180 global corporate partners, and reinvested £1 million back into the LGBTQ+ community.
Maylis’s transformative experiences as a Black, West African, queer woman and parent—alongside her journey overcoming addiction and mental health challenges—inspire her dedication to supporting historically marginalised communities.
Maylis is a witty and high-impact storyteller and moderator, known for creating spaces of dialogue and self-reflection. In 2021, she was recognised as an HR Superstar speaker at Empower, 15Five’s annual leadership conference, sharing the stage with keynote speakers Simon Sinek, Allyson Felix, and Amy C. Edmondson.
Her client portfolio includes EE, Google, Garnier, Procter & Gamble, Japan Tobacco International (JTI), J.P.Morgan, Deloitte, Meta, The United Nations, Omnicom, Unilever, Jacobs Douwe Egberts, Levi’s, eBay, Bloomberg, Henkel, StudioCanal, Parsons Paris The New School, and many more.
Maylis now divides her time between London and Abidjan, parenting and balancing global perspectives with her roots. Upon returning to her native Côte d’Ivoire, she played a key role in a pioneering gender inclusion research project. Initiated by former Prime Minister H.E. Patrick Achi and Mara Bolis, a fellow at the Harvard Center for International Development, the initiative aimed to upskill regional leadership and raise awareness of rural women’s rights in La Mé Region and beyond.
